Simo Peteri comes from the shore of Lake Päijänne near town Jyväskylä. He was born in Sea Lapland that occupies the most southwest region of Finnish Lapland. Photography played a big part in his childhood. He has photographed professionally and teached photography since 1990’s. Simo has been photographing his home island Muuratsalo and the landscapes of the surrounding Lake Päijänne since year 2009. The change of seasons with foggy mornings, first snow falls and the changing light and colours of the nature talk to him with their own aesthetic and wake up his inner photographer.
Simo Peteri asuu Päijänteen rannalla Keski-Suomessa lähellä Jyväskylää. Kotoisin hän on Meri-Lapista, jossa valokuvaus oli oleellinen osa hänen lapsuuttaan. Hän on toiminut valokuvaajana sekä valokuvauksen kouluttajana 1990-luvulta lähtien. Simo on kuvannut Muuratsalon kotisaartaan ja sitä ympäröivää Pohjois-Päijänteen maisemaa vuodesta 2009 lähtien. Vuodenaikojen murroskohdat sumuisine aamuineen, ensilumineen sekä luonnon muuttuvat valot ja värit puhuttelevat häntä omalla estetiikallaan ja saavat kuvaajan heräämään.”
